Scene from Wallander

Stefan Lindman (Ola Rapace) and Frank Borg (Jacob Eklund) in a scuffle with a suspect, not exactly playing by the rules. Watch the video here.

Fun video clip. You guys might have seen it before, but it was new to me. If you like this sort of thing, enjoy. 🙂

I’ll have to do some translations again

Posted on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 in Fandom, Writing

That’s it. I will have to translate my Wallander fics into English. When I read the result of an online translation, I realized that this couldn’t go on. You have no idea how stupid it looks. I certainly hope no one thinks I write that badly in reality. Translating is such a bore. I’d been hoping to be able to wait a while longer, but since there’s a demand, I’ll just have to do it. Actually, it might be a good thing for another reason too. At least I try to tell myself that. If I get to work on something, I might be able to get back to writing again, and if so I just might be able to finish my novel, at long last. I hope so anyway.

Just because I’m having an awful day…

… (no, an awful life).

Aha, Take on Me

Gay Sherlock Holmes could backfire for Guy Ritchie?

Posted on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 in Fandom, Other

At least according to this article.

Why? What’s not to like about that? Ok, to be honest, I’m rather picky and I could wish for some other actors (other than Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law), but slash is always nice. It can brighten a dark day.

Way up there

Posted on Monday, August 3, 2009 in Fandom, Other

The other day, I watched the last episode but one of the UK tv series Being Human. As I tend to do, I’ve fallen hopelessly in love with one of the main characters, but considering the fact that he’s a vampire, this time it’s more the actor I’m attracted to. There he is, the latest in a long line of celebrity guys I fall for. I fall for them, but I can never hope to even exist in the same world as they do. Jonathan Bennett, Alexander Rybak and now Aidan Turner, are just a few of all those guys.

And then it hit me. They are all way beyond my league. Don’t get me wrong, of course these actors and singers are, and that’s not quite what I meant. I always imagine that type of guy, in real life, closer to me, and on a few occasions, I find that yes, that type of guy would be just within my reach, if I’m lucky. But not most of them. They’re way above and beyond me. It’s a discouraging thought. I don’t mean that they have different interests or even that they are clearly far more outgoing and successful than I am. There’s more to it than that. Guys like that – again, I mean good looking, charming, interesting guys, even outside of show business – would pass me by, without even taking a second look.

I don’t know where I’m going with this, but it made me a little sad. They won’t even give me a chance. The ones I do meet, are usually either not interested in me or I’m not interested in them. If there’s more to it than that, well, when we go our separate ways, I’ll bet there aren’t a long line of women waiting to snatch those guys up. So I guess we’re the B team, if there are even enough letters in the alphabet for people like us.

That’s not quite how I imagined my life would be, when I was fifteen or sixteen, but I guess that’s just how it is.

Another favorite mystery writer

Posted on Saturday, August 1, 2009 in Fandom

Leena Lehtolainen is a Finnish mystery writer, who writes about female cop Maria Kallio. Maria is married and has a little daughter (and a cat), but sometimes glances at other men… I really like the books about Maria Kallio and I’m patiently awaiting the next one. In the last book I read, a while ago, we learned that Maria was pregnant with her second child. Fortunately, these books have been translated into Swedish. I don’t know much Finnish… Actually that’s an understatement. I know less than a dozen words, all told, but that’s another story. Finland is in many ways like Sweden, but in other ways different and it’s those differences that fascinate me.

Feminist porn?

Posted on Saturday, July 25, 2009 in Fandom, Other, Writing

I just read an article about feminist porn. I must admit I was a little disappointed, when I realized that this, just like “ordinary” porn, was just about women. Naturally that’s fine for those who are into women, but not that much fun for me. I’d like to see some ‘gay’ porn for women. You can never get enough of cute guys together. If anyone would like to start making a couple of those movies, I’d be happy to write the script. That’s a promise. 😉
