Shaggables

Posted on Sunday, April 4, 2010 in Fandom, Other

Found this meme on another blog, but I felt the list was too long and unwieldy. Worse, most of the characters I’d only barely heard of so I couldn’t decide which ones I liked enough. So, this is my list of shaggable (or not so shaggable) male characters (note that it’s about the characters, not the actors). I chose to add only characters I like to this list. There are none of the ones I can’t stand to see at all. You do as you like. In fact, if you prefer, use any character (female too). Whatever you like.

This is how to do it:

Make your own list.

1. Bold the names of guys you’d definitely shag.
2. Italicize the names of guys you might shag after a little persuasion.
3. Leave the guys who don’t do anything for you alone.

Creepy… Cemetaries and weird guys

Posted on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 in Books

This afternoon, I went to pick up some books I had ordered. Not that we can afford them, but just this once, we decided it would be alright. When I got to the store – no post offices anymore, which is such a shame, considering that we (Sweden) used to have the oldest postal service in the world, as far as I know – I made a total fool of myself, by not being able to find the text message with the package number. Very embarrassing. Fortunately, the woman behind the counter was familiar with Nokia phones.

On my way back I had a bit of a scare. As I was passing a goldsmith’s shop, I noticed that two young guys were standing around, talking. This is a small town, but it was getting dark and I was on my own, so I was wondering what they were up to. Suddenly they said hi to me with sort of an undertone, that made me wonder. It was like ‘don’t look at us, we’re not up to anything’. I said hi back, thinking maybe they were trying to sell something or had a sort of survey, but apparently that was it. So I began to walk a little faster – I would have anyway, it was pretty chilly – but I couldn’t help glancing over my shoulder, just in case.

Just my luck that the only people passing by, other than these two, were an older woman on her bike heading in a different direction and someone walking with an invalid’s cane – blind and most likely something else – brave person. Then after a while I passed a church and a cemetary (not theirs, an older one, from a cholera epidemic in the 19th century). A gang of younger guys were hanging around there. After that there were a couple of different people. Besides, it didn’t take me more than five-ten minutes to get home.

Way up there

Posted on Monday, August 3, 2009 in Fandom, Other

The other day, I watched the last episode but one of the UK tv series Being Human. As I tend to do, I’ve fallen hopelessly in love with one of the main characters, but considering the fact that he’s a vampire, this time it’s more the actor I’m attracted to. There he is, the latest in a long line of celebrity guys I fall for. I fall for them, but I can never hope to even exist in the same world as they do. Jonathan Bennett, Alexander Rybak and now Aidan Turner, are just a few of all those guys.

And then it hit me. They are all way beyond my league. Don’t get me wrong, of course these actors and singers are, and that’s not quite what I meant. I always imagine that type of guy, in real life, closer to me, and on a few occasions, I find that yes, that type of guy would be just within my reach, if I’m lucky. But not most of them. They’re way above and beyond me. It’s a discouraging thought. I don’t mean that they have different interests or even that they are clearly far more outgoing and successful than I am. There’s more to it than that. Guys like that – again, I mean good looking, charming, interesting guys, even outside of show business – would pass me by, without even taking a second look.

I don’t know where I’m going with this, but it made me a little sad. They won’t even give me a chance. The ones I do meet, are usually either not interested in me or I’m not interested in them. If there’s more to it than that, well, when we go our separate ways, I’ll bet there aren’t a long line of women waiting to snatch those guys up. So I guess we’re the B team, if there are even enough letters in the alphabet for people like us.

That’s not quite how I imagined my life would be, when I was fifteen or sixteen, but I guess that’s just how it is.

Feminist porn?

Posted on Saturday, July 25, 2009 in Fandom, Other, Writing

I just read an article about feminist porn. I must admit I was a little disappointed, when I realized that this, just like “ordinary” porn, was just about women. Naturally that’s fine for those who are into women, but not that much fun for me. I’d like to see some ‘gay’ porn for women. You can never get enough of cute guys together. If anyone would like to start making a couple of those movies, I’d be happy to write the script. That’s a promise. 😉

Modern sex habits

Posted on Saturday, December 22, 2007 in Other

I keep reading about the modern woman’s sex habits, and that, believe it or not, isn’t why I read the papers. But it’s everywhere.

They like to be forced to have sex by a whole gang of guys. They like it rough, ie the guy treating them roughly. And naturally, the all time favorite – lesbian sex. Not lesbian women. Straight ones. What I can’t understand is how straight women can like that. Isn’t it part of the concept ‘heterosexual’ that you prefer the opposite sex?

Am I the only one who likes the other type of rough? By me, against the guy? Or… now that we’re on that topic – the guys… 😉 Am I alone in being turned on by watching two or three hot guys being together or at least kissing?

I guess I’m hopelessly geeky and “out of things”. Except… if I’m the only entirely straight girl left (not quite true, I know at least one girl who is like me), shouldn’t there be more guys left for me (us)? 🙂

You can always hope. And the rest of you. Good luck! I hope you’ll have a lot of fun in life. As long as no one innocent gets hurt, I hope everyone gets what they want. Just one thing – let me have a couple of those guys you don’t want anyway, ok? 🙂

What is Slash Fan Fiction?

Posted on Thursday, December 13, 2007 in Writing

To put it simply, slash means a m/m pairing. Some people say it goes back to K/S which means Kirk/Spock, from Star Trek, The Original Series. Others say it goes all the way back to Sherlock Holmes and Watson. What do I know? It might even go back to Homer’s stories about Achilles and Patroclus. The stories can be about affectionate glances exchanged between young boys or hardcore porn between two consenting adult males. And also rape and other non-consensual sex and S/M.

Guys, before you throw up, there’s also femslash or femmeslash, which of course means a f/f pairing. There’s no historic background really, because frankly, it’s a less popular type of fan fiction.

Oddly enough, slash, meaning m/m sex, is very popular with lesbian writers/readers. Huh? Yes, it’s true. Don’t ask me why. I mean, as a straight woman, I can’t find much interest for femslash, and I would have thought it would be the same thing, only the other way around, for lesbians. But obviously not.

Of course, you also have straight males devouring femslash and naturally, straight females who love slash. But that’s hardly the same thing, is it? It would kind of be like gay men loving femslash, and believe me, that’s probably never been heard of in fan ficion.

I’ve read all kinds of explanations of why women write and read slash. A popular one is that there simply aren’t that many good female characters in any fandom. Why that is, I really don’t know. Others say that female readers tend to identify with their favorite male characters, and obviously it would be hard for them to feel very worked up about a female love interest. There are also some who simply enjoy reading stories about two hot males together. I mean, if one hot male is cool, then two must be even better.

I’m not exactly sure why I love it so much myself. All I know is that I’ve been getting ideas about slash fan fiction or original fiction for ages. Ever since I was a teenager. It’s probably a combination of the three above explanations. On the other hand, I also love writing about a pairing that includes one hot male and a female who is at least a little like me. I’m only human. 😉 This, of course, falls under the heading het adult, or even gen, if it’s totally lacking in sex.
