Signe

Signe was born 15 November, 1899. Her father died early. The family had seven children and Signe was the youngest. When she grew up, she trained as a bank clerk, but never worked outside her home. Instead, she kept house for her mother and sister. She also ran their big garden. Other interests included books. Signe loved reading. Gardening was another important interest. She was a very skilled gardener. Among other things, she grew rare plants.

She was a fine cook and made wonderful bread. She also made her own and her sister’s and mother’s clothes.

She was very loyal to and attached to her family. Signe’s brothers married and each had a daughter. Both girls would come and visit their aunts.

The youngest niece, Ingegerd, later had two daughters of her own, and they too used to come and visit Signe and her sisters. By then, the second youngest had retired and moved back to her sisters.

Signe was always kind and amiable to her niece and the latter’s daughters. She also got along well with her brother Nils and her sister-in-law Sara.

Just like many members of her family, Signe was very fond of animals.
