IP rights

I just got a message from a group I’m part of, Vintage Village. Oriolus Oliva is an amazing artist and his wonderful world in SL that he’s built, Verdigris has been copybotted and someone is trying to make money on his work. The name of the thief, according to Oriolus is Duoker Laszlo (Novaterra sim). Don’t buy from him, buy from the artist himself.

  1. I ran across this interesting blog, and read with interpretation your comments.
    Mr. Oriolus Oliva has has accused me of the same thing.
    I in turn filed an abuse report in SL against Oriolus Oliva for his violations of the SL Terms of Service for defaming me. In turn he has taken this abuse to a web site.
    He without my permission used my photos on his site to continue the harassment. So -what we have is someone who for some reason feels he has the right to state whatever he wishes and state un-proven (an never can be proven) statements.

    I am not able to discuss what the situation is between Oliva and Laszlo, but I do know Mr. Oliva has made statements against me that are simply false.

    So, if you take the fact he without my permission has used MY photos on a commercial website, to continue his defaming remarks, who is the real theif? Now the question is should I sue – When you take matters like this to the commercial side and he obviously has, People have a real working legal system at their disposal.

    1. I usually don’t take sides in these matters, but when I saw the pictures on Koinup I thought they looked very similar the builds. That’s when I decided to write the article. Of course you can never be sure and if I hurt your feelings, I apologize for it.

  2. No – You have not hurt my feelings. :)
    In fact you provided an opportunity to state Oriolus Oliva has issued false statements against me, both in world and now at his site. In World – I filed an Abuse Report against him. In RL I file a lawsuit.

    Let me point out a few issues;

    1). Big difference between stealing someones work and building your own.
    I wear hair, you wear hair – correct ? So is our hair stolen? Obviously the person who made the first wearable hair – did not in fact make our hair. Hair is common so are buildings. Just because some simple minded person can state “someone ” stole his work does not mean it happened.

    2). You make a nice building – and someone comes along using some unauthorized tool and simply copies your building – outright. Yes, that is stealing because no effort was needed to do that + you did not allow it. Your time and materials were taken without compensation.

    Anyone – Including you can build anything you wish as long as you use your time, effort and materials. – that is not by any measure stealing.

    Note:
    You may receive a FREE copy of this build to examine every prim and texture. If you find anything that is not mine (or has been copied, ripped) or i can not prove ownership for each texture used- I will pay you 200,000 linden.

    What more can I say except using someone else photos without permission is in fact stealing. The photos used to make his false statements are mine; – I did not give anyone permissions to use the photos outside of Xstreet. That is stealing –

    Kind Regards, Jep
