Description: Kirk and Bones return from a bar, disappointed and ‘dateless’. Kirk thinks of something to liven up the evening.

”Sh. Shut up. He’s sleeping.”

”I know. So?”

Kirk and Bones were coming back from a bar, drunk and disappointed. They hadn’t been able to pick up even one girl between them. Not that they wanted just one girl, but this night had been a grave disappointed. Usually –

They walked into the dorm room and found their one room mate, Spock, asleep. That gave Kirk an idea. It wouldn’t be as satisfying as the real thing, but on the other hand, it could be fun. He loved to put one over on that boring Vulcan guy. Holier-than-thou, better at most subjects – and the one Uhura had chosen, for some incredible reason.

”Hey – I have an idea. Watch this.”

”What?”

Bones was considering going to bed. After all, tomorrow was another day. On the other hand, Kirk was usually up to some fun and if so – it would be a shame to miss it.

Kirk reached out and grabbed Spock’s shoulder and shook it.

”Wake up. Hey.”

Spock woke up so quickly, it startled Kirk, but he wasn’t going to back down now.

”Yes?”

”Get up. I need your help with something.”

”What may I assist you with?”

Instead of replying, Kirk took Spock’s hand and put it on his own crotch and started rubbing.

Spock pulled his hand back, staring incredulously at his new room mate.

”What are you doing?”

Spock was used to being bullied, so he wasn’t completely surprised at Kirk’s behavior, but he couldn’t understand what his room mate wanted.

”Don’t be so stuck up. This is the way it is: we’re a team, right? We’ll be part of the same crew, correct?”

”Yes.”

Spock had no idea where this was going. He might not find differential calculus difficult, or quantum mechanics, but human behavior was.

”So it’s every member’s duty to be there for his crew mates.”

”Yes.”

”There you have it. So go on. Help me out.”

”With what?”

Those Vulcan eyebrows rose higher than Kirk had expected. Was it possible that Spock was so dense? Surely he was faking it, to wriggle out of the chore Kirk had for him.

”Bones and I were out looking for girls. As you can see, we didn’t find any. So, here we are in – great need. Do you Vulcans get horny?”

”Horny? I am not familiar with that word.”

”Of course you’re not. I’ll try to make it simple for you. Humans need sex. When they can’t get sex, they can get cranky and if you’re cranky, you don’t do a very good job. Isn’t it in the best interest of the crew if everyone is functioning at an optimum level?”

”Your logic is flawed.”

”I’m sure it is. I don’t do logic. So, help me out here. I was showing you what sort of help I need. All you have to do is do it.”

To finish off his argument, Kirk once again grabbed Spock’s hand and began to rub it against his crotch. That kind of felt quite good, despite the fact that Spock wasn’t moving his hand of his own accord. At this point, Kirk was fully prepared to help himself, but now that he’d started this prank, he didn’t want to back down. Not in front of his friend, Bones.

”What you are suggesting is inappropriate behavior. In addition, Vulcans don’t – have sex. Only once every seven years.”

”What? You’re kidding, right?”

”If you are asking if I am joking, the answer is no. It is called Pon Farr. We mate with a female once every seven years.”

”Of course you do. You Vulcans are so – weird. Once every seven years? Really? How do you get by in between? Don’t tell me you never even -”

”We meditate.”

”Meditate? Did you hear that, Bones? They meditate. I guess if you get hungry you just meditate too?”

Spock opened his mouth to explain how important logic was to Vulcans and how important it was to repress their primal urges, but Kirk wasn’t interested.

”Come on, Bones. Spock has two hands. He can – uh – help you out too.”

”Ok, I’ll freely admit that after my divorce, I’m not that much into women, not right at the moment, but – this – I think I’ll take a rain check. Ok?”

”Suit yourself. Spock, come on. I told you a crew mate would do this for me.”

Spock was unsure of how human interactions worked, so he was prepared to admit he could be wrong about the inappropriateness of what Kirk was suggesting. With a feeling of being in the wrong, yet unable to challenge the other man, he reluctantly agreed to do what Kirk asked of him. After a few moments of his inefficient rubbing, Kirk grabbed his hand again and used it to his satisfaction. Or rather – it wasn’t that satisfying, he concluded after a few moments. He dropped Spock’s hand and pulled down his pants.

”Ok, next stage. On your knees, Spock.”

”Excuse me?”

”Get down on your knees.”

Spock had a strong feeling Kirk was lying to him. This was just another version of the bullying he had suffered as a child, but he saw no support in Dr McCoy’s eyes and he knew that Kirk wouldn’t back down. He should refuse and report this to the Academy officials or any of his instructors, but he also knew that betraying your crew members, or in this case, his class mates, was frowned upon. In the end, he gave up and kneeled as Kirk had told him to. He wasn’t sure why this was asked of him, but he knew that tonight, under these circumstances, he would have to comply.

Once he was standing on his knees, Kirk moved closer and pushed – Spock’s eyes widened. Was this really part of a human sexual act? What purpose could it serve, even if it had been between a male and a female? But he supposed Kirk knew better.

A low moan from Bones made Kirk look over his shoulder. He could see his friend rubbing his crotch.

”Aha, I knew it. Get with the program, my friend. Spock – tell us about Uhura. What do you guys do when you’re together?”

Spock knew he didn’t understand human interactions but this – it was against everything he was. He was not going to tell them anything about Uhura. If anyone had asked him why, he wouldn’t have known what to say. What Kirk was asking was just a question. Not hard to understand. But he sensed – something underneath the mere words. An intention. Kirk could tell him what to do, but not to speak about Uhura. That was – he struggled with the human concept – private.

By now, Bones was standing next to Kirk mimicking his friend’s actions. Kirk shuddered and twitched and withdrew.

”Ok, my friend, he’s all yours.”

Bones resigned himself to what was happening. It had looked – sort of hot. Despite everything. He didn’t find Spock the least bit attractive, but this – had to feel good. If he closed his eyes he could almost imagine it was his ex-wife on her knees in front of him. No. That didn’t help. She was so – Anyone then. That green girl maybe. Whatever, or rather whoever. By the time Spock had got started again, it didn’t matter who he was thinking of. Kirk was right, this was fun. It was – like being on your own, despite getting this sort of service. Spock was hardly there. He didn’t know what he was doing. That was kind of hot. And that ended it for Bones. He stepped back and pulled up his pants.

”Thanks.”

He was about to throw Spock a flippant line like ‘was it good for you too?’ but his conscience struck him. Spock looked so – innocent – like a child. Like he really didn’t know what they were making him do.

From that night on, Kirk would often get Spock to ‘help them out’. Bones reluctantly took part as well. Watching and listening to what the other two were up to, made it impossible to abstain. But only on the nights they didn’t get any girls. If they did, what good would Spock do?

Then one night, somehow Uhura caught them in the act. Kirk had no idea where she’d come from. Suddenly, she was just standing in the doorway behind him. He noticed, even though it was at a most inopportune moment, because he could see Spock’s gaze wander off to something behind his back. The Vulcan’s eyes widened and suddenly, Kirk just knew. He heard Bones hastily withdraw, but he – was just too far gone to stop. Painfully aware that someone was watching him and he had a good idea of who it was too, he climaxed and hastily withdrew as well. As soon as he felt up to it, he turned around and faced whoever it was. Of course it was Uhura. She was furious. Normally, that would make Kirk laugh. She was such a goody-two-shoes. Come to think of it, she and Spock really suited each other. They deserved each other.

”What the hell are you doing?”

She looked positively dangerous the way she stalked into the room, like she was going to kick both their asses. Now that was an image Kirk could have got into, just a few minutes ago. Regrettably, it was a little late for that. As she came closer, he actually felt a little uncomfortable. Not that he couldn’t handle himself in a fight with a girl – it was just that – she could report them. Despite what he’d said to Spock, he knew far too well that what he and Bones had been doing was ‘inappropriate behavior’ and almost anyone but Spock would have seen that. Even Kirk, to whom the word inappropriate was a challenge, not a deterrent.

”If you ever touch Spock again, I’m going to report you.”

It looked as if she wanted to do far more than that. Her eyes were almost completely black with anger and Kirk sensed the pure hatred behind the seemingly uncontrollable rage. With an effort, she seemed to pull herself together. She held out her hand to Spock and helped him to his feet.

”Come on. I’m not leaving you here with these two -”

Kirk didn’t catch the words she spoke under her breath but the venom gave him some hint of what to expect.

”Next time you two get stupid again, I suggest you help each other. Do you hear me, Spock? If they ever try this sort of thing with you again, tell them to help each other. That isn’t entirely against the rules, I believe.”

Kirk grinned sheepishly at Bones, feeling – embarrassed – but somehow, the idea didn’t seem entirely out of the question. He thought he caught a similar glint in Bones’ eyes too, but – suddenly an image of Pike flashed before his eyes. It was gone before Kirk had time to draw any conclusions of his sudden insight, but the subliminal idea remained. Pike – there was something about him that – He shook his head to remove that ridiculous thought.

”What are you shaking your head at? Or should I say who? Do you have something to say to me?”

”What? No. Uh – you guys have no sense of humor. Also, you have no idea of what it’s like to be a guy.”

”You know what? I’m really glad I don’t. A second inside that filthy mind of yours would make me want to have my brain sanitized. Come on, baby. Let’s go.”

Spock had heard her refer to him as ‘baby’ before and though he wasn’t a baby or even an adolescent, he didn’t object. Something about Uhura and everything she did and said was – pleasing to him somehow. At times he had fleeting thoughts about Pon Farr, but that was illogical. It wasn’t time for his Pon Farr yet and even if it was – he would have to be careful he didn’t hurt Uhura. She wasn’t a Vulcan. But his father would never allow him to go through Pon Farr with Uhura so it was no use even considering the idea.

He let Uhura grab his hand and pull him along into her own room. The green girl who shared it with her wasn’t there and Spock didn’t ask where she was. His attention was fixed on Uhura. He wasn’t sure if she was angry with him too. After all, he was the one who had done the things Kirk and Bones and told him to. Didn’t that mean he was as guilty as they were?

”Listen to me, Spock. What they did to you is wrong. Whatever they said to you – ”

”He said we are members of the same team and will one day be part of the same crew. It is the duty of a crew mate to help the others who belong to the crew. He needed help with -”

”I see. He was lying. Forcing anyone to do that against their will is a crime. It’s not just a violation of the rules, it’s a crime. They could be expelled, maybe even brought up on charges. Remember that. They have no right to make you do that.”

Spock nodded. That was what he had thought. Though he tried really hard not to feel anything, somehow it was good to know that Uhura was on his side. Not that it should make a difference. Like Kirk and Bones had said, they were all part of the same ‘team’. He couldn’t explain to himself what made Uhura different, but in some subtle way she was.

Now she pulled him into her arms and held him. She even did that thing with her hands. Stroking his hair. It was illogical, but – if he had had more human blood in him, he would have been enjoying it. As it was, he didn’t see any reason to ask her to stop. For some reason he wasn’t sure of, he wanted her to go on.

”I’ll never let them hurt you again. Never.”

He pulled back slightly and caught her gaze.

”They didn’t hurt me. It wasn’t painful.”

”But you didn’t like it?”

”No.”

”I will never let them make you do anything you don’t want again. Trust me. They’ll regret they were ever born.”

He didn’t understand the latter part of her statement, but the rest of what she was saying was good. Reassuring, but that was a human word.

Once again, she pulled him close and held him for a long time.

When she let him go, she was smiling again.

”You can take the other bed. My room mate won’t be back tonight. She – is busy somewhere else.”

”Oh. Thank you. But isn’t it against the rules for male and female cadets to share the same room?”

”Yes. But I won’t tell them, if you won’t.”

He took that to mean that he wasn’t to report the infraction of the rules. That confused him, but he trusted Uhura to do the right thing so he didn’t object.

”Besides”, she added, ”you and I aren’t going to do anything inappropriate. We’ll just sleep.”

”Yes.”

Uhura looked at him with a strange expression in her eyes. He didn’t understand it, but it reminded him of the way his mother would look at his father sometimes.

She knew he didn’t understand her love for him or the attraction she felt. At times she felt as guilty as those two reprobates for wanting him the way she did, but from the moment she’d seen that innocent boy-man she had fallen in love with him. There was something so irresistible about his innocence and lack of understanding. Those eyes – She knew she ought to report what Kirk and Bones had done to Spock, but she couldn’t expose him like that. He would be ridiculed by all the other male cadets, probably many of the females too. Many of them despised the Vulcans or even resented them, she knew that. They might seem superior to humans and others, but she knew they didn’t mean any harm. It was just the way they were. Especially Spock. Even if he was half human.

When she had removed her uniform and stretched out on her bed, she let her gaze slide over Spock, lying on the other bed. She wished he could stay here every night, even though she struggled to be more generous to her green-skinned room mate. There was no harm in that girl, but –

”Sleep well, Spock.”

”Sleep well, Uhura.”

She would keep him safe from those two and anyone else who wanted to hurt him. If she ever caught them bullying him again, she would find a way to make them pay. No one hurt her Spock, not while she was still alive.
